Collection: MADUNA

From the MADUNA photographic project, a line of handcrafted jewelry was born, dedicated to ceramic floor tiles, which were popular in Sicilian private buildings and churches between the 17th and 19th centuries. Maiolica tiles are the focus of my photographic research.

The term Maiolica has Spanish origins, Maiorca, and indicates a tile , often hand-painted. During the period of Spanish rule, Sicilian artisans perfected the production techniques and decorative designs, leading majolica to be appreciated and sought after throughout the Mediterranean.
